University Safety Course

The course on workplace safety, provided by the University, is mandatory for all degree students and must be completed before the ongoing internship.

The course consists of three parts:
◆ Module 1: General training – 4 hours
◆ Module 2: Low-risk specific training – 4 hours
◆ Module 3: Medium-risk specific training (biological and chemical risks) – 4 hours

Module 1 and Module 2 Modules 1 and 2 are delivered via e-learning, and students must pass the relevant assessment tests required to receive the respective certificates of proficiency (one for each module). To access both modules, students must read the Privacy Policy and submit a request to enroll in the University Health and Safety Course using the dedicated Microsoft Form. Please note: the request must include a duly completed declaration of acknowledgement of the Privacy Policy, referred to in the previous paragraph. Requests will be forwarded by the Department to the relevant office, which will activate access to Modules 1 and 2 within two weeks. Upon activation, students will receive an email from the relevant office with all the information needed to access the modules. At the end of each course and after passing the assessments, the certificate will be available for download.

Module 3
Module 3 (medium-risk specific training on chemical and biological risks) is delivered online, asynchronously (via video lessons).
To access Module 3, you must have passed the previous two modules.
This training is held approximately once a month in the Department’s Test Center.
Registration must be completed directly on the website elearning.vet.unipi.it under “Registration for the Module 3 Safety Test” (authentication must be completed by clicking the Shibboleth Login button).
The system automatically closes registrations the day before the test date. You can also cancel your registration within that timeframe.

The next test date is June 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Once the University certificate has been obtained and the Department’s safety test has been passed, the student can proceed to the Teaching Unit where, after an appropriate assessment (for which the suitability certificates for Modules 1 and 2 must be brought), the complete certification will be prepared and delivered.

Please note: At the end of each session, the system automatically displays the test results. If the student fails the test, they can retake the failed topic at a later date.

Recognition of prior training

The University recognises general and specific safety training certifications completed at other institutions, schools, and organisations.
To verify compliance and possible exemption from taking the equivalent module, send your certificate to pratiche.studenti@unipi.it.
The certificate must include the following information:

  • Name of the training provider
  • Participant’s personal details (first name, last name, date and place of birth, or tax code);
  • Type of course, including legal reference and duration;
  • Mode of delivery;
  • Date and location of the course;

The general training certificate is a permanent credit, not subject to expiration.
The specific training certificate is valid for 5 years from the date of issue.
