Committees and Working Groups


The Committees and Working Groups are bodies that collaborate in the management, development, and continuous improvement of the Department’s activities. These groups are composed of faculty, technical and administrative staff, and, where applicable, student representatives, who operate with organisational, advisory, and proactive roles in various areas of departmental life.

Teaching Committee

The Teaching Committee of the Department of Veterinary Sciences promotes and supports the quality and innovation of education, ensuring the effectiveness of the educational offerings across all DSV programs.
The Committee is composed of the Teaching Delegate, the Area Coordinator for Internationalisation (CAI) and the Deputy CAI, the Representative for Innovative Teaching, Job Placement, Postgraduate Programs, Entry Orientation and Tutoring, as well as the Representative for Disability, the Head of the Teaching Unit, the Study Program Presidents, and the PhD Program Coordinator.

The Committee operates in accordance with the objectives of the DSV through plenary meetings and thematic working groups. It promotes and fosters discussion and collaboration among faculty, students, and technical and administrative staff, encouraging a functional training approach geared toward preparing competent, responsible professionals capable of interacting in an ever-evolving global context.

Research Committee

The Research Committee of the Department of Veterinary Sciences promotes and supports research development, fostering collaboration between researchers and technical and administrative staff.
It evaluates scientific activities according to national and international standards, promotes internal and external discussion initiatives, and contributes to improving their quality, effectiveness, and impact. It operates according to guidelines approved by the Department Council, through plenary meetings and thematic working groups. The results are shared with the departmental community through reports, seminars, and discussions. The Committee fosters a culture of research based on quality, transparency, and collaboration.

Third Mission Committee

The Third Mission Commission promotes and coordinates the activities of the Department of Veterinary Sciences aimed at disseminating knowledge and developing innovative initiatives for the benefit of society, in accordance with the national ANVUR (Third Mission Evaluation/Social Impact-University) criteria. Specifically, the Commission fosters relationships with public bodies, businesses, and local organisations, facilitating the creation of agreements. It enhances existing departmental structures (such as the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and the Veterinary Anatomical Museum) and supports initiatives such as the creation of continuing education and public engagement activities.

Quality Committee

The Quality Commission (or Quality Group), established by Department Council Resolution No. 315/2024, works to identify and implement synergies between the three different quality assurance systems in place within the Department of Veterinary Medicine (DVS):
1. the AVA (Self-Evaluation, Evaluation, Accreditation) certification system, the national quality assurance system for higher education and research, coordinated by ANVUR (National Agency for University and Research Evaluation);
2. the EAEVE (European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education) certification system, the official European and international authority for the accreditation of institutions offering courses in Veterinary Medicine;
3. the UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 international certification system, which attests to the Department of Veterinary Medicine’s commitment to offering services that meet customer needs and to continuously improve its processes.

Project of Excellence Coordination Group (GCPE)

The Coordination Group for the Excellence Project (GCPE) aims to manage the OSCAR project (Open Science in Co-Creative Animal Research), a five-year departmental development project funded by the Ministry of University and Research for the period 2023–2027, as a Department of Excellence within the Italian context.

The GCPE ensures the progress of planned activities, suggests new actions, and supports the Advisory Board in monitoring. Specifically, the GCPE supervises and leads the activities of the Co-Creation Labs and all structures (e.g., CAVE) and OSCAR-related activities. The GCPE actively listens to the DSV community and interacts with both individual faculty members/groups and the Department Council for plenary decisions.

Communication Group

The Communications Group of the Department of Veterinary Sciences is responsible for managing and publishing content for the institutional website, social media channels, and printed or digital materials. Its activities aim to promote the Department’s initiatives, disseminate the results of scientific research, give visibility to ongoing projects, and strengthen internal institutional communication.

Organo di Tutorato e Orientamento

The Tutoring Body of the Department of Veterinary Sciences is the structure responsible for coordinating and monitoring all tutoring and student orientation activities. It was established by the Department Council in accordance with the University Regulations on tutoring and is composed of academic staff, a student representative, and the Head of the Teaching Unit (or their delegate). It is specifically responsible for coordinating incoming student orientation and peer tutoring activities.
