Open semester 2026/2027 Posted on 29 July 2026 An online orientation meeting dedicated to the 2026/2027 open semester will be held on Thursday, July 30th at 11:30 a.m. The meeting will be an opportunity to explore all the fundamental aspects of the program, including: the registration procedures; the organisation of lessons; the main innovations introduced by the ministerial decree; the steps to follow to best tackle the start of the semester. During the presentation, you’ll be able to ask questions directly via chat, so you can clarify any doubts and receive real-time answers. The meeting will take place on the Microsoft Teams platform. To participate, you must register: fill out the form. Semester Registration Registration is now open for the open semester, the system that regulates access to the master’s degree programs in Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, and Veterinary Medicine. Applications can be submitted until 6:00 PM on August 3, 2026, through the Universitaly portal. Students must indicate their degree program of interest, the location where they wish to attend the open semester, and their preference for the University of Pisa, followed by at least nine other locations for the purposes of possible enrollment in the second semester. After registering on Universitaly, you will need to complete the registration on the University of Pisa’s Alice portal and pay the €250 fee by August 6, 2026. To assist with the access process and request information, Sibylla – Open Semester Assistant, a virtual assistant based on artificial intelligence, is available starting this year. The open semester requires students to attend three courses – Biology, Chemistry, and Physics – and pass the related exams, scheduled for two exam dates: December 10, 2026, and January 11, 2027. Students will be able to choose whether to attend the morning classes from September 1st to November 30th in person or remotely. The University of Pisa will provide teaching materials and recordings of the classes. During enrollment, dual enrollment in a related degree program, among those identified by ministerial decrees, is also mandatory. In other words, students must also choose an alternative course of study if they are not admitted to the second semester in Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, or Veterinary Medicine. However, choosing a related program is not mandatory if you are already enrolled in a related program and have no intention of changing it. For the 2026/2027 academic year, 369 places are available at the University of Pisa for the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery, 30 places for the Single-Cycle Degree Course in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics, and 78 places for the Degree Course in Veterinary Medicine. The scores obtained in the exams will determine the position in a single national ranking, which will determine who will be able to access the second semester in Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, and Veterinary Medicine. Those who fail to gain admission to the degree programs in Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, or Veterinary Medicine, but pass the open semester exams, will not lose their credits. These will be automatically recognized for those who choose to enroll in a similar program or another degree program at the University of Pisa. For this academic year, the University of Pisa will again offer students specific preparation support activities, including tutoring, exercises, and exam simulations. These initiatives will complement the services offered through the online platform created thanks to the agreement between the universities and CISIA.
