Study STPA LM-86 Study programmes, academic regulations The organisational aspects of the Degree Programme and the educational offer are described in the Academic Regulations. Working students/parents-students According to the University Academic Regulations, the status of working student (Art. 27) and student parent (Art. 23, paragraph 9) may be recognised, with specific support measures provided in the course of study. Exam Session Calendar The Degree Programme is nearing completion and does not provide dedicated exam sessions.Enrolled students are invited to agree with the relevant lecturer which active course to register for, following changes in course titles.Subsequently, it is possible to register for the agreed exams via the University’s Valutami portal. Compulsory courses and activities For the attainment of the degree, the completion of mandatory training activities aimed at acquiring transversal skills useful for the academic and professional path is required. Workplace safety courses Students who already hold a safety training certificate – as in the case of those continuing from the STPA Bachelor’s degree of the DSV – are not required to repeat the course, provided that the certificate is still valid. Please note that the certificate is valid for five years from the date of issue. For those coming from other universities and/or who do not hold the certificate, the information and procedures to follow in order to fulfil the training requirement are provided below. University Safety Course The workplace safety course, provided by the University, is mandatory for all students of the Degree Programme and must be completed before undertaking the ongoing internship. The course consists of three parts:◆ Module 1: General training – 4 hours◆ Module 2: Specific training for low risk – 4 hours◆ Module 3: Specific training for medium risk (biological and chemical hazards) – 4 hours Module 1 and Module 2Modules 1 and 2 are delivered via e-learning, and students must pass the corresponding assessment tests in order to receive the respective certificates of completion (one per module).To access the two modules, students must review the Privacy Policy and submit a registration request for the University Health and Safety Course through the specific Microsoft Forms.Please note: the request must be accompanied by a completed declaration confirming that the Privacy Policy has been reviewed, as mentioned above.Requests will be forwarded by the Department to the appropriate office, which will activate access to Modules 1 and 2 within two weeks. Upon activation, students will receive an email from the office containing all the necessary information to complete the modules. At the end of each course, and upon successful completion of the assessments, the certificate will be available for download. Module 3Module 3 (specific training for medium risk, covering chemical and biological hazards) is delivered via distance learning (asynchronous mode, through video lectures).To access Module 3, students must have successfully completed the previous two modules.This training is held approximately once a month in the Department’s Computer Lab.Registration must be done directly on the website elearning.vet.unipi.it under Registration for the Module 3 Safety Test (authentication must be completed by clicking the Shibboleth Login button).The system automatically closes registrations the day before the test date, which is also the deadline for cancelling a registration. Once the certificate issued by the University has been obtained and the safety test prepared by the Department has been passed, the student may go to the Teaching Unit where, after the appropriate verification (for which the certificates of completion for Modules 1 and 2 must be presented), the full certification will be prepared and issued. Please note: at the end of each session, the system automatically displays the test result. If the student does not meet the required standard, it is possible to retake the test on the topic that was not passed in a subsequent session. For further information about Module 3, Dr Maria Novella Benvenuti can be contacted Recognition of prior training The University recognises general and specific safety training certificates obtained at other institutions, schools, or organisations.To verify their compliance and determine any exemption from completing the module deemed equivalent, please send your certificate to pratiche.studenti@unipi.it.The certificate must include the following information: Name of the training provider Participant’s personal details (first name, last name, date and place of birth, or tax code); Type of course, including legal reference and duration; Mode of delivery; Date and location of the course; The general training certificate is a permanent credit and is not subject to expiry.The specific training certificate is valid for five years from the date of issue. Elective ECTS credits During their academic career, in addition to the specific training activities, the student must earn 9 ECTS credits through activities of their own choice (elective credits).Elective credits can be earned through the following activities: Exams included in the study plan of the other curriculum; Elective learning activities; Exams from other degree programmes at the University; Additional internship activities beyond the 12 required – up to 3 ECTS, for a total of 15 ECTS – or other activities provided for by current regulations ECTS earned abroad – through Erasmus or an Internship – will grant the allocation of 1 additional point to the final degree grade (Resolution 35 of the Aggregated Degree Programme in STPA, 31/05/2023) If the B2 level in a European language is not held, 3 ECTS credits from the elective credits must be used to take the language proficiency test by completing the following form. Upcoming dates for the Workplace Health and Safety Course 7 May 2026, 12:00 pm Tutoring Service The tutoring activity aims to guide and support students, encourage their active participation in the study programme, and, as far as possible, remove any obstacles along their academic path. At the Department of Veterinary Sciences, various types of tutoring activities are available, which can be provided by both lecturers and students. Teacher Tutor Until the 2019/2020 academic year, the University Tutoring Regulations provided for the assignment of an individual Lecturer-Tutor to each first-year student, to be maintained throughout their academic career. Since 2020, following a resolution by the Academic Senate, Departments have been authorised to experiment with new organisational methods for lecturer tutoring.The Master’s Degree Programme in STPA has assigned the following lecturer-tutors to all students: Professor Carlo Bibbiani Professor Filippo Fratini Professor Francesca Pedonese Professor Sergio Saia They are available to help clarify any doubts regarding the study programme.In particular, Prof. Bibbiani, Coordinator of the Internship Committee, will answer questions concerning the internship procedure. It is possible to contact the tutor lecturers via stpadocentitutor@vet.unipi.it to arrange an appointment, either in person or in the Microsoft Teams virtual classroom (code: w7jkc00). Please remember to contact your tutors at least one week in advance to confirm their availability, as teaching, research, and institutional commitments of the lecturers are not always predictable. In some cases, your tutor may be unable to attend the scheduled office hours originally indicated in the list. Student Tutor The student tutor is a student who provides support and guidance to the students of the Degree Program. This is a person who is currently following the study program and has likely already experienced the challenges of the academic path. Peer Tutoring The Peer Tutoring Service, aimed at students of all Degree Programmes in the Department of Veterinary Sciences, is designed to provide guidance and support throughout their academic journey. Useful Information and FAQ Electronic student record consultation (exams, fees, etc.) To consult the electronic student record, students can access the ALICE portal using their personal credentials. On the portal, it is possible to view completed exams and the status of tuition fee payments. If an exam that has already been taken is not recorded, you may contact Ms. Patrizia Lenzi.
